Blade mafia attacks doctor

A young doctor on Thursday was allegedly attacked by members of a blade mafia in his house at Pala here. Following the attack, the doctor filed a complaint with Pala CI and Kottayam SP.

Dr Jose George, of Kadappatoor, Chembakassery, in his complaint stated that he had availed of a loan of Rs 5 lakh for business in 2011-12 from a private money lender at Kizhathadiyoor. 

“Towards the principal and interest, I have paid Rs 7.5 lakh till now. But the money lender sought another Rs 2 lakh to settle the deal. I am ready to give the amount, but need some time to do so,” he said. He said when he failed to pay the interest amount in June, the blade mafia starting threatening him by visiting his house and abusing him. He had been paying the interest amount regularly till then. “As the goons started visiting my clinic, I  was forced to shut it down,” George said. On Thursday, two persons came to his house and beat him up in front of his wife.
