Child abuse: Shafeeq’s health improving

The condition of the five-year-old torture victim Shafeeq has improved about 40 per cent and the remaining three weeks are crucial for his full recovery, Kottayam Medical College Neurology HoD Dr K Mahadevan  said here on Tuesday.

The 40 per cent recovery in the last one week is an encouraging sign, Dr Mahadevan said after diagnosing Shafeeq at the St Johns Hospital here.

Dr Mahadevan, who paid visit to the hospital at the direction of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, however, added that it remains to be seen whether the child showed same recovery in the coming days.
