LDF ready for elections, says Pinarayi Vijayan

The Left Democratic Front is ready for elections, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

“We are prepared for elections this very moment. Oommen Chandy was quoted as saying that nobody was ready for a by-election. If that was his excuse for clinging on to power against the will of the people, he has misjudged the situation. The LDF is all set for elections, anytime,” Pinarayi Vijayan said, inaugurating the third day of the sit-in protest in front of the Collectorate here on Friday.

The CPM state secretary, however, repeated that the LDF would not try to topple the government. “We will wait till the government rots and disintegrates on its own,” Pinarayi said.

“The UDF move for a Cabinet rejig is an attempt to mow down the ire of the public in the solar scam that has left the UDF stinking. Meanwhile, K M Mani is trying to fish in troubled waters and to install his son in the Union Ministry. To save his own chair, Chandy has given nod for the inclusion of Jose K Mani in the Union Cabinet. The Chief Minister will now try to appease everyone around to stick on to power. Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala will go to New Delhi to finalise this deal with the High Command,” he said.

But, the truce between the Congress and the Kerala Congress and a ministry reshuffle are the internal matters of the UDF and these steps will not be enough to cool down the protests raging on the streets of Kerala.

Reports say that the list of Saritha includes names of two Union ministers from Kerala, state ministers, a young Congress MLA and police officers. The noose is tightening around Oommen Chandy and he will have to quit, he said.
