District Collector B Mohanan has called for the authorities of civic bodies to carry out panchayat-level fever hot spot mapping to improve the effectiveness of preventive measures.
Addressing a meeting of panchayat presidents and secretaries with regard to the measures for prevention of communicable diseases here on Monday, B Mohanan said that hot spot marking would help in identifying the vulnerable areas which would be key to implement preventive measures.
Fogging will be made mandatory in places where dengue fever has been reported. The district panchayat has to provide necessary assistance to the Health Department in this regard.
“A weekly meeting, chaired by the Panchayat Health Standing Committee Chairman, has to be convened to review the preventive measures taken,” the Collector told the meeting.
The District Collector also directed to give special focus on the eastern parts of the district, where a number of fever cases had been reported.
“Rain guards will be made mandatory for all rubber plantations and health inspectors have been asked to ensure it. Communication regarding this will be conveyed to all plantation owners through the panchayat secretaries,” Mohanan said.
Meanwhile, the Ayurveda Department will form a Rapid Action Force to combat spread of fever in the district. A force will be formed in the four zones of the district under the zonal convenors.
District Medical Officer (ayurveda) had informed that ayurvedic medicinal kits for improving immunity against the common diseases during monsoon, have been made available in all government ayurveda institutions in the district.
