More facilities to be given to pilgrims taking traditional route

Central range Inspector General of Police (IG) B Padmakumar has said that more facilities will be given to the pilgrims who choose the traditional Vallakkadavu-Sathram -Pulmedu route to Sabarimala temple. Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Padmakumar, who  reviewed the situation after walking along the traditional forest route as  part of arranging facilities on the basis of Justice  Hariharan Nair Commission report, said that the road between Vallakadavu and Sathram was in a dilapidated condition.  Though the authorities promised to renovate the road during the last pilgrimage season, they failed to undertake the works.

The IG  warned of chances of accident on the route. He called for setting up more lighting facilities at Sathram as the lighting on the temple premises is poor. The trekking paths between Sathram and Pulmedu and between Pulmedu and Pandithavalam are not cleared of bushes, he said.
