Chairman of the High-Powered Committee on Sabarimala Infrastructure Development,  K Jayakumar, has said that the next meeting of the committee in the middle of December will give clearance to the new  Prasadam Complex.

K Jayakumar was talking to Express after visiting the Sannidhanam  and nearby areas as part of the preparations for the projects to be taken up at the December meeting. The tender  process for the work on the new prasadam complex, having a cost of about `10 crore, has almost been completed.

The tender for the work will be finalised and awarded to the contractor so that the work could be started immediately after the ongoing season, Jayakumar said.

The meeting will take up the work on the bailey bridge to make it pilgim-friendly by  erecting a foot overbrdige connecting the north-end to Chandranandan Road, Jayakumar said. At present, the pilgrims rarely use the Sarana Sethu due to the inadequate length of the bridge, he said. The other project to get priority at the meeting will be Kunnar dam water storage augmentation project, Jayakumar said.

The meeting  will take steps to sort out the issues with the Union Environment and Forest Department for getting the final clearance for the project, he said.
