Sabarimala: Interim Estimate Shows Surge in Revenue

The aggregate revenue of Lord Ayyappa temple here, during the first 12 days of the ongoing pilgrimage season  till November 27 stood at Rs 33.14 crore. The income during the  corresponding period  in the previous pilgrimage season was Rs 24.80 crore. This shows an increase of Rs  8.34 crore, reliable sources with the TDB said.

Of the total revenue, the income from the sale of Aravana Prasadam stood at Rs 12.11 crore during the first 12 days of the season as against Rs 11 crore during the same period in the last season, the sources said.

The income  from the sale of Appam Prasadam is counted to be Rs 2.68 crore in contrast to Rs 2.09 crore during the corresponding period in the previous season, the sources said.

The hundi collection during the period under review stood at Rs 11.74 crore as against Rs 9.20 crore during the same period in the last pilgrimage season. The income received as rent of the accommodation facilities stood at Rs 47 lakh. This was only Rs 8 lakh during the period under consideration last year, the sources said.

Prasadam buffer stock

The buffer  stock of Aravana  Prasadam stood at 18 lakh containers and the daily production stood at about  two lakh containers. Regarding Appam Prasadam, the buffer stock came to 3.5 lakh and the average demand stood between 1 lakh to 1.20 lakh packets.
