Probe initiated against Madhani

Ernakulam North Police on Thursday registered a case against Abdul Nazar Madhani and another PDP activist Muhammad Asraf following a direction of the Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) on a petition filed by T G Mohandas, director of the Responsible Citizens’ Foundation, Kochi.

Ernakulam North Police on Thursday registered a case against Abdul Nazar Madhani and another PDP activist Muhammad Asraf following a direction of the Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) on a petition filed by T G Mohandas, director of the Responsible Citizens’ Foundation, Kochi.

The police have registered the case under IPC Sections 120(B), 307, 511 and 34 for murder attempt and criminal conspiracy.

In the petition filed before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mohandas alleged that Madhani had given ransom to Asraf for murdering P Parameswaran, director of Bharatiya Vichar Kendra and senior RSS activist, and Fr Alvi, who had converted to Christianity from Islam religion and become a priest.

Mohandas alleged that A V George, Circle Inspector, Kozhikode Town, on April 6, 1998, had submitted before the T K Muhammad Commission a statement by K Muhammad of Kanthapuram in Kozhikode, 34th witness in Marad case, that Madhani had arraigned Asraf for bid to murder Parameswaran and Fr Alvi.
