CB to probe land grab by Salim Raj

DGP K S Balasubramanian on Friday ordered a Crime Branch inquiry into a land grab case in Ernakulam in which the Chief Minister’s former gunman Salim Raj is involved.

He has also directed handing over the case to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) if officials of Revenue Department or Registration Department are found to have a role in the case.

The High Court had criticised the DGP for forwarding a complaint lodged by the petitioners in this regard to the Chief Minister instead of ordering an inquiry.

The petitioners allege that Salim and his wife employed at the Land Revenue Commissioner office using their clout to deprive rights over their ancestral property of 1.16 acres at Thrikkakara.
