We need many sports nurseries to find out and give training to the sportspersons of the future at a tender age, said Dronacharya K P Thomas on Monday. He was speaking at a reception accorded to him and his student T S Arya who won gold in the Asian School Meet held in Malaysia. The sports master, who himself is running such a nursery, added that sports nurseries for the children had helped countries like China produce world class sports stars. Thomas said that it was with this intention that he is running a free nursery attached to the SNV Higher Secondary School, Vannapuram, near Thodupuzha for children in the lower primary section. “The government has offered to give financial help to run the nursery,” the master said adding that he would receive any help happily and wouldn’t grudge if nothing is received.
