One of the two generators that was down for repairs at the Sabarigiri hydel project in Pathanamthitta district is back in operation, KSEB officials said. With this, the number of operational generators in the state’s second biggest hydel project is now five. In the case of the other generator, KSEB is negotiating with the Chinese supplier to carry out repairs. The hydel project on Wednesday contributed 5.86 million units to the power grid in the state and the total generation capacity here has gone up to 280 MW.

Generator No: 6 in the six-generator power station at Moozhiyar was down for repairs last week after a cooler in the machine got damaged. It has been replaced, KSEB officials said. A winding in the Chinese-make No: 4 generator was damaged during a test conducted as part of commissioning the unit. The KSEB is in negotiations with the manufacturers Harbin (Kunming) Electrical Company Ltd to get it repaired. This machine was introduced last year.
