Condemning the attack on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Rural Development Minister K C Joseph warned the CPM of serious repercussions if it continued its ‘most undemocratic ways of protests’. The minister alleged that “the deliberate attempt on the CM’s life” was hatched with the knowledge of top CPM leadership. A visibly agitated Joseph told mediapersons just a few minutes after the incident that the attack on the Chief Minister went against all democratic manners and human values. “The CPM leadership should not take the patience of the UDF workers for granted. The CPM will have to pay heavily if it continues with this kind of protest,” K C Joseph warned. “The Congress and the UDF will not be cowed down by these attacks and we will carry on with our programmes.

The programmes of the CM will be held as scheduled,” Joseph said.

“The CPM has a history of creating riots in the district and this is the limit.” The Chief Minister attended the closing ceremony of the Kerala State Annual Police Athletic Meet here just a few minutes after the attack on his car.
