Pinarayi cannot dodge the responsibility: Chennithala

KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan should own up responsibility for the attack on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Kannur and offer a public apology for the incident.

KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan should own up responsibility for the attack on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Kannur and offer a public apology for the incident.

Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, he said that CPM state secretary during the time of T P Chandrasekharan murder had also asked the same question as to who is the real beneficiary of the attack.

“Pinarayi Vijayan tried to cover up the CPM act then by asking whether the CPM will organise such an attack in the midst of Neyyatinkara bypoll.

“He has now repeated the same words with regard to the attack on Chandy asking who is the real beneficiary of the attack. The probe into the TP murder revealed that the argument of the CPM state secretary was hollow.

Anybody who knows about the violence unleashed by Left in Kannur knows that the CPM is behind the attack on Chandy,’’ he alleged.

Security Lapses

Chennithala said that the party is of the view that there are lapses in providing security to Chief Minister. ‘’The security lapses should be probed and the Home Minister had already ordered an inquiry into it’’ he added.

He alleged that the attack on Chandy was continuation of the attacks carried out by CPM in Kannur against its political opponents and the CPM leadership should end this politics of violence.

“The CPM should put an end to the violence carried out by its supporters and the Opposition should end to the agitations against the Chief Minister.

“The attack against the Chief Minister is an insult to democracy,’’ he said.

He said that the attack against the Chief Minister has brought tremendous embarrassment to the entire state and never before in history had an elected Chief Minister being targeted by Opposition in this manner.
