Adventure Carnival at Vagamon Hill

Aiming at promoting the tourism potential of Vagamon, the State Youth Welfare Board will organise the Kerala Adventure Carnival 2014 at Vagamon from February 22.

Aiming at promoting the tourism potential of Vagamon, the State Youth Welfare Board will organise the Kerala Adventure Carnival 2014 at Vagamon from February 22.

The carnival, being conducted in association with Tourism Department and Vagamon Destination Management Committee, will focus mainly on adventure sports. Paragliding is expected to be the major carnival attraction. It will be held every day. Mountain biking, rock climbing, adventure photography, para motoring, off road four wheeler and two wheeler rally will be among the other sporting activities during the fest which will conclude on March 2.

According to the organisers, 30 minutes paragliding will cost `2,000. The ride will take off from suicide point at Vagamon and land at JJ Murphy School Grounds at Yendayar near Mundakkayam. The take off point will be at a height of 1,050 metres above the sea level. A training camp is under way and will continue till Thursday.

The mountain biking event, covering a total distance of 83 km, is expected to be attended by 50 persons.

Rock Climbing activities will be held from February 23-25.  The off road jeep rally will be held on February 22  and the mountain bike rally will be held on February 24 and 25.

Paramotoring, a mechanised form of paragliding, will be held in Kottayam, Pala, Erattupetta, Kuttikanam, Elappara on February 22 as part of the carnival.
