LPG customers in the state, who have still not linked their Aadhaar number to gas connection and bank account number, will have to pay around Rs 550 more per cylinder from January 1.
The deadline for linking the gas connection with the consumers Aadhaar number ended on Tuesday.
Though there is a general feeling that the Central Government would extend the time, major oil manufacturing companies (OMCs) are ready to implement the prevailing government order.
“From January 1, LPG cylinders will be billed at non-subsidised rate.
“Those who have linked their gas connection with Aadhaar number would get the subsidy amount credited to their account.
“The rest of the customers have to give `550 more to get an LPG cylinder,” a BPCL official said.
There is a lot of confusion in this regard as only 70 per cent of the people in the state have Aadhaar cards and people who got the card had not linked it with gas connection and bank account.
“We have to follow the government instruction and since there is no announcement about date extension, non-subsidised charges will come into effect from January 1,” an IOC official said.
There are complaints that people who had linked their Aadhaar number with gas connection are getting subsidy Rs 30-32 less per cylinder as tax (5 per cent) is levied from the amount.
