The vastuvidya experts on Monday finalised the locations for the renovation of  Malikappuram Devi temple, new bhasmakulam, new prasadam complex, widening of the Lord Ayyappa temple premises and new Valiyanadapandal.

Talking to mediapersons at Devaswom Guest  House here, noted vasthuvidya expert Kanippayyur Krishnan Nampoothiri said that as part of the renovation of Malikappuram temple, new nalambalam and thidappally will be built without any alteration to the Sreekovil of the temple.

“Before proceeding with the implementation of the project ‘anunja’ (permission) will  be sought from the Lord,” Kanippayyur said.

At Malikappuram the land-level of sub-gods like ‘Nagar’, ‘Manimandapam’ and Navagrahamandapam will be brought to the level of the goddess temple. The entrance to  Malikappuram temple from Lord Ayyappa temple will be shifted to the east side from the south at present,” he said.

The location of the bhasmakulam will be shifted to the north-east side of the temple from the west side at present, Kanippayyur said.

For providing more space at Sopanam, 21 metres  from the south, west and north from the Sreekovil will be given. For the purpose, the thantri madom and melsanthi madom to the south of the Srikovil will be shifted, he said. The new prasadam manufacturing facility will be located to the south-east of the temple. The prasadam distribution counters will be located near Malikappuram temple near the new exit road. A new location for the breaking of coconuts will be set up at Lower Thirumuttom before the holy steps, Kanippayyur said. A new two-storey valiyanadapandal will be built at the existing location, of which the ground floor will be used as resting place for the pilgrims and the first floor as new queue path, he said.
