Leopard Falls into Well, Rescued

A three-year-old male leopard, found in a well at Kannookkara in the district, was rescued by the Forest and Wildlife Department officials here after hours long efforts on Wednesday. The leopard, which fell into the well in the morning, was shot with tranquillizer twice by Forest Veterinary surgeon Arun Sachariah and was taken out of the well by around 6.40 pm.
According to the officials, the leopard was first sighted by a woman who came near the well to collect water from it around 9.30 am. Hundreds of people flocked the area hearing the news and later police, fire and rescue services personnel and forest officials also reached the spot. The well, which has a depth of 18 metres, is located on the land owned by Jameela, Moosanteparambathu, Tsunami Colony, Podikkalam near Kannookkara.
