Terming the BJP and RSS rebels in Kannur district as opportunists and “Modi’s men”, Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has come out against the CPM’s move to induct them into the party.
Addressing reporters here on Friday, he wondered what would the people feel if such turncoats were admitted to the party. “They were Modi’s men. After coming out of the BJP they had launched a forum called NaMo Vichar Manch declaring that they were following the ideology of Narendra Modi. If such opportunists were admitted to the party it would not be in the interest of the party,” he clarified, at a time when the party is planning to accord them a reception.
“When the CPM had joined hands with the PDP in the past people did not take it positively. The result was that the party’s seats were reduced to four in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.”
He also lend all support to slain RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan’s wife K K Rema’s plea for a CBI probe into TP murder.
“The conspiracy angle in the murder case was a just one. Who can dishonour the feelings of Rema?” he asked.
Taking a stern stand against the state party leadership, he underscored the view of party general secretary Prakash Karat that there would be no space for those involved in the TP murder in the party.
It may be noted that VS had visited TP’s house to console the family on the very day of Neyyattinkara bypolls which is said to have had a great impact on the voters.
When the party openly censured them and asked to apologise, he had stated that he should have avoided the visit on that particular day. Terming the state budget as anti-people, he said the proposals will be adding financial burden on the people.
