THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Former Union Minister and  BJP leader O Rajagopal has clarified that he had met only Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping,  and not PM Narendra Modi in connection with the Vizhinjam port project.

‘Express’ had on Saturday carried a  report “Influential Dubai Lobby May torpedo Vizhinjam Project” in which it was inadvertently stated that Rajagopal had met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few weeks back in New Delhi, to present the case of Vizhinjam.

Rajagopal clarified that it was Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is holding the Shipping portfolio, who raised the doubt about the seriousness of the state government in implementing the project as the State governments in the last ten years could not present the case effectively.
