THIRUVANANTHAPURAM ( KERALA) :The State Government will submit a report to the Centre seeking Rs 1250 crore assistance for the Sabarimala Master Plan works.
“The 15-point report for developing the shrine as a national pilgrim centre would be submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said. The report was finalised at a high-level meeting attended by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Chennithala on Wednesday.
“The demands in the state’s wish list include allotting 500 acres of land from the Periyar Tiger Reserve limits at Sabarimala and Pampa. Another 400 hectares of land and financial assistance would be sought for developing the Nilakkal base camp,” Chennithala said.
The other demands are sanction for the second phase of Pampa Action Plan, grant for Nilakkal-Pampa monorail, including Sabarimala in the National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive and pilgrim tourism project, preparing a safety plan by the National Disaster Mgmt Authority, aid for underground cabling and aerial bunched cabling for power supply, assistance for a multi-speciality hospital, `750-crore aid for service roads and transit camps, steps to implement Sabari railway project, aid for Kunnar Dam development and for establishing a Veda-Tantric university at Nilakkal.
Travancore Devaswom Board president M P Govindan Nair, Subhash Vasu, P K Kumaran, Sabarimala high-power committee chairman K Jayakumar, Devaswom secy K R Jyothilal and TDB commissioner P Venugopal attended the meeting.
