VADAKALA ( KERALA ): In a shocking incident, a four-and-a-half-year-old girl studying in a private English medium school at Parakkadav near Nadapuram in rural Kozhikode was sexually abused, allegedly by the senior students of the school. The girl, suffering from pain and uneasiness, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thalassery.

Police said a case was registered under section 376 of IPC and provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act based on a complaint lodged by the mother of the girl.

The incident took place on October 30. According to the complaint, two senior students of the Darul Huda English Medium School, Parakkadav,  forcefully took the girl to their hostel, located in the school compound, while she was going to toilet, and sexually abused her. However, the kid did not reveal the incident to her parents or friends for nearly a week.

On Friday, the parents took the girl to a nearby hospital when she complained of uneasiness. The incident came to light when the doctor informed the parents that the girl had been molested. After constant interrogation, the girl revealed that she was abused by her seniors.

A police team, led by Nadapuram Circle Inspector A Suresh Kumar, is probing the case. According to the police, the culprits are yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, the management of Darul Huda English Medium School has denied the charges and termed the allegations ‘baseless.’ “No such incident has happened at the school and the allegations are part of an attempt to sabotage the image of the institution,” said the school authority. Demanding action against the culprits, the activists of the DYFI and BJP on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the school.

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights asked the Kozhikode Rural SP and Nadapuram CI to submit a detailed report within three days.
