KOZHIKODE: The Nadapuram police on Wednesday took four persons into custody in the case related to the sexual abuse of a four-and-a-half-year-old girl studying at a private English medium school at Parakkadav near Nadapuram.

Officials said that three of them were students of the school, while one person was working as a labourer in the town. Two of the students are inmates of the school hostel. The interrogation is under way.

The probe team visited the school and its hostel and took the persons into custody based on the statements made by the victim. Thamarassery DySP Jaison K Abraham also visited the school and reviewed the probe.

The police registered the case based on a complaint lodged by the mother of the girl. The incident took place on October 30, 2014. According to the complaint filed, two senior students of the Darul Huda English Medium School, Parakkadav, forcefully took the girl to their hostel located in the school compound, while she was going to toilet, and sexually abused her.

The girl, who has been suffering from constant pain and uneasiness, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thalassery. However, the kid did not reveal the incident to her parents or friends for nearly a week. On Friday, the parents took the girl to a nearby hospital when she complained of uneasiness.

The incident came to light when the doctor informed the parents that the girl had been molested. After repeated interrogation, the girl revealed that she was abused by her seniors.

The parents lodged a complaint at the Valayam police station as the school management allegedly tried to play down the issue.
