IDUKKI: Water level in Mullaperiyar dam had reached 139.4 ft against its permissible limit of 142 ft on Wednesday. The inflow was 1,326 cubic feet per seconds (CUSECS) while the outflow to Tamil Nadu was only 456 Cusecs. The catchment area received only 5.2 mm rainfall while Thekkady received 4.8 mm showers.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court appointed three-member apex committee to ensure on the safety of the dam has not announced any date to visit the dam. The apex committee during their last meeting had said that the shutters could be opened only when the water level reached 140 ft. The five member sub-committee has failed to hold its weekly meet this time.
