Wild Elephant Tramples Man to Death

SULTHAN BATHERY: A 54-year-old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Karyampathi in the Chethalayath forest range under the South Wayanad forest division near here, on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Karyampathi Joy, a resident of Pathiri, a village located on the fringes of Chethalayath range.

The victim, along with his neighbour Chandran had gone to collect firewood inside the forest, around 6 pm, when the incident occurred. Though the duo ran in different directions upon seeing the rampaging elephant, only the latter managed to come out of the forests, the forest officials said.
