THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Stirs by physical education teachers and students across the state during the course of the last week has cast a shadow over the 58th Kerala State School Athletics Championship to be held at Lakshmibai National College for Physical Education, Kariavattom, near here from November 20 to 23. The group protesting against the State Government’s move to co-opt teachers from other disciplines for the post of PE teachers, continued their protests on Sunday with the district sports meet at Kozhikode and an organising committee meeting of the state athletics meet here  postponed as a result. Though the government had temporarily frozen its order enabling teachers trained in other disciplines to take charge as physical education teachers after going through a short-term training programme, the teachers are demanding the withdrawal of the order.
