NSG Team Visits Guruvayur Temple

NSG Team Visits Guruvayur Temple

GURUVAYUR: Putting an end to speculations, a team of the Chennai unit of the National Security Guard (NSG) has arrived at Guruvayur reportedly for reviewing the security measures taken by the state police at the Lord Sree Krisha temple here on Monday.

According to reports, the team consisting of four to five members would be staying at the temple town for at least two days. Sources close to Guruvayur Devaswom (GD) said that the team has held talks with District Collector and GD Administrator in-charge M S Jaya and asked for a meeting with the police officials here in-charge of the temple security.

The state police, however, denied such a meeting, and maintained that NSG officials had asked only for certain details about the nearby police stations, which, they said, were handed over.

Although there were reports since September  that an NSG team would visit the temple to inspect the security arrangements at the temple, there were no official confirmations about it or of the purpose of the visit.
