People-friendly Police to Serve at Sabarimala

SABARIMALA: Sabarimala police chief coordinator ADGP K Padmakumar has said that instructions have been given to the police personnel on duty to ensure friendly behaviour to the pilgrims at Sannidhanam.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday, Padmakumar said that more than 600 police personnel undertaking crowd control duty at Sannidhanam have been briefed on how a humanitarian approach is maintained.

Utmost care would be given to the aged as well as children, said Padmakumar. He said 80 officers including 10 Deputy Superintendents, 20 Circle Inspectors and 50 Sub-inspectors and Assistant Sub- inspectors would be in charge of the 600 policemen. At Pampa, 300 policemen and women will be on duty in the first batch, with six DySPs, 12 CIs and 40 SIs and ASIs to oversee. During the season, 156 RAF personnel and a 96-member NDRF men will also be on duty, he said.
