KOTTAYAM(KERALA): Finance Minister and Kerala Congress (M) chairman K M Mani said here on Tuesday that the bar bribery controversy was planted and was aimed to topple the UDF government.Speaking to reporters after a high-power committee meeting of KC(M) here, he said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the bar owners have similar interests of ousting the government. The LDF’s stir demanding his resignation has political motivations, he said. He alleged there was a conspiracy behind the charge levelled by Kerala Bar Owners Association working president Biju Ramesh.Biju had alleged that Mani had taken `1 crore and demanded `5 crore on the promise of reopening all 418 closed bars. “It is an attempt to tarnish the image of the party. A legal notice has been issued to him and let the reply come”, he said.
