High-level Meet on Avian Influenza Threat Today

THRISSUR: Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) is actively involved in managing avian influenza threat in the state. Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Academics and Research of the University in association with Department of Poultry Science, Public Health and Centre for One Health will associate with the disease control team of Animal Husbandry and Health Department in this effort, said KVASU authorities.

Minister for Agriculture and Pro Chancellor of KVASU K P Mohanan is leading the disease control and containment team in the state. KVASU officials will take part in the high level discussion convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday.

Dr Sunil B, Professor and Head of the Department of Veterinary Public Health of Pookode campus and director of entrepreneurship Dr T P Sethumadhavan will attend the high-level meeting.KVASU will implement three-tier system of awareness programme for the local body representatives, veterinarians, para veterinarians and duck farmers. Knowledge dissemination process will be implemented at the grass root level. A team of specialists, led by registrar Dr Joseph Mathew, is monitoring the disease management strategies on behalf of KVASU, said KVASU officials.
