SABARIMALA:  The Devaswom authorities on Wednesday have replaced the contractors for supplying aravana ingredients, rock sugar and dried grapes, following the supply has been detected of poor quality.

The reports said that the manufacturing of aravana had been stopped thrice including Tuesday for the want of quality rock sugar and dried grapes.  The contracts had been given to Kumily-based High Range Society, whose background in the field has yet not been verified. The society is reported to be supplying the materials at Rs 53 and Rs 192 per kg respectively for rock sugar and grapes. The Devaswom authorities have reportedly engaged Raidco and Marketfed as short-term suppliers of the ingredients.

Travancore Devaswom executive officer V S Jayakumar said the board would invite new tenders for the supply of the raw materials, adding that the aravana production which had been disrupted has resumed by Wednesday evening.
