THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has got an unexpected pat from none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chandy got a congratulatory note from Modi for effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, a brainchild of the latter. In a letter sent to Chandy, Modi appreciated the CM and his team for the excellent progress made in rolling out the major initiative in financial inclusion, an ambitious programme launched by the PM.
“I am happy to note that your state has been fully saturated with coverage of all households with bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana,” the letter said. He further urged the State Government to use the bank accounts for transferring benefits under State government schemes directly to beneficiaries.
The Prime Minister also pointing out that the scheme enables all households to take advantage of the modern financial system.
