C K Saseendran Gets Third Term

MANANTHAVADY: C K Saseendran was reelected secretary of the CPM Wayanad district committee at the party district conference which concluded here on Saturday. Saseendran, 52, a district secretariat member, was unanimously elected for his third term in office.

A 25-member district committee was also constituted. Five of the first-timers in the committee are Rukmini Subramaniyan, Suresh Thalur, P Vasudevan, K Shameer and K Rafeeq.

Four senior members, K M Subramanian, P J Antony, P U Elamma and P A Muhammed, were exempted from the district committee. One post had been lying vacant since July 2013, following the death of P Kunhikannan.

Beginning his political career as a student activist at St Mary’s College, Sulthan Bathery, and the Zamorins Guruvayurappan College, Kozhikode, he became SFI’s Wayanad district secretary. He went on to become the DYFI district unit president and secretary of the Mananthavady and Kalpetta area committees.

Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurated the public meeting held to mark the conclusion of the three-day conference.
