Death Anniversary of G Devarajan

 KOLLAM:The ninth death anniversary of music composer G Devarajan will be observed with various programmes by the Paravur municipality on Saturday.

During the occasion, the renovated Nehru Park, where Devarajan was cremated, and the newly constructed open auditorium will be opened up to the public.

‘’The master craftsman who blessed the Malayalam cinema with his magical compositions is still fondly remembered by the people. The municipality is committed to observe his death anniversary with a range of programmes. As part of that we have earlier renovated the Nehru Park and an open auditorium was also constructed. It will be inaugurated jointly by M A Baby MLA and actor Mukesh at 5 p.m.,’’ said municipal chairperson V Ambika at a press conference on Thursday.

According to her, the construction activities cost around Rs 17 lakh. She said the park will become a favourite hangout of the families as it will have enough space. Moreover, the compositions of Devarajan will be played in the background, she

added. The organisers said that the highlight of the function will be a get-together of families of Vayalar, Devarajan and O Madhavan.

The function will be attended by G S Jayalal MLA, lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi and others.

From 7 p.m., onwards a music programme named ‘Devaraga Tharangini’ will be conducted by playback singer Sudeep Kumar and team.
