Bishop John Thundukalam Passes Away

PATHANAMTHITTA: Anglican Church of India’s Maramon diocese metropolitan Bishop Dr John Thundukalam, 63, passed away at 7.30 pm on Monday. The Bishop breathed his last at Kottayam Medical College College Hospital, where the bishop was undergoing treatment. Born at Karuvatta in Alappuzha district in 1953, he studied at Karuvatta NSS School and later joined the Kottayam CMS seminary. Installed as a vicar at the age of 23, Rev John Thundukalam worked as vicar at Puthuppally, Maramon, Vattamala, Karuvata, Perunthuruthi, Vettiyad and Vaishya Bhagam.

The bishop leaves behind wife Santhamma, daughter Mercy John, Daizy John and Joysee John.  The funeral will be held at Karuvatta Anglican Church under the leadership of Archbishop Dr Stephan Vattapara and diocese metropolitans at 2 pm on April 27.
