KOCHI: The demonetisation drive for reining in black money was the biggest decision taken by the Modi-led NDA Government, said BJP president Amit Shah.

After inaugurating the first anniversary celebration of NDA constituent Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) at Angamaly on Monday, Shah said, “The biggest achievement of the government is that it has not faced even a single corruption charge in the first two-and-half years of its tenure. The recent decision to withdraw high-value currency notes was the biggest decision it took against black money. Through the drive, benefits of development will start reaching the poor,” he said, and rapped the Opposition parties for opposing the drive, rather than supporting it.

On the growing tensions between India and Pakistan, Shah said the Indian Government had been giving befitting reply to the misadventures of Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC). “The NDA Government wants to maintain peaceful relationship with all countries, but there have been misadventures from the part of Pakistan. When our brave soldiers were killed by terrorists in Uri, the Modi Government responded in a responsible manner, unlike the previous Congress-led government.

“Within days of the attack, our soldiers entered the Pakistani soil and conducted surgical strikes. This shows the government’s strong conviction in fighting terrorism and those sponsoring it,” he said. Shah further stated that the Centre was committed to achieving inclusive growth. “Development is the mantra of the NDA Government, which is working for the development of each and every citizen in the country,” he added.

BDJS president Thushar Vellappally presided over the meeting, which was also attended by BJP president Kummanam Rajasekaran and former BJP state chief V Muraleedharan, among others.

‘LDF using violence against NDA’
“The LDF Government in Kerala believes in violence rather than development of the state,” said BJP president Amit Shah. “Ever since the LDF came to power in Kerala, it has been unleashing violence against NDA workers. By doing so, the LDF thinks they could weaken the NDA. I can assure you that the NDA would continue to gain strength, and become a strong force against the LDF and the UDF in the state in the coming elections,” he said. Shah further stated that the people of Kerala were being denied benefits of several Central Government schemes. “The NDA Government has rolled out several welfare schemes, but their benefits have not reached the people of Kerala, due to the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government,” he added.

Shah meets BJP,  NDA leaders
Kochi: BJP President Amit Shah on Monday held talks with the BJP core team and NDA leaders at the Aluva guesthouse. The meeting was held at a time when a section of BDJS leaders have raised allegations that they were being denied due recognition and that the party leadership had backtracked on their promises. According to sources, Amit Shah assured every possible help to strengthen the NDA in Kerala. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan criticised the State Government for not doing enough to digitise the banking sector.
