Sanskrit a repository of information: Sugathakumari

Sanskrit is our country’s pride, a repository of information, but has a few takers today, said poet B Sugathakumari.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sanskrit is our country’s pride, a repository of information, but has a few takers today, said poet B Sugathakumari. “Feelings like love, politeness, humility and respect to the Tricolour are becoming alien to  society - to the extent that they are regarded as a weakness,” she said.

She was speaking after releasing ‘Sukrutham,’ a collection of Sanskrit works by poet Vishnunarayanan Namboodiri, by handing over a copy to Ezhacherry Ramachandran here on Wednesday. ‘Prapancha Lottery,’ a poetry collection, by Madassery Neelakandan was released by poet K V Ramakrishnan at the function.

Sugathakumari said Namboodiri’s works dealt with various topics like devotion and philosophy. He is one of the few poets like me who writes ‘poems’ and not ‘prose in the name of poetry.’
