SABARAIMALA: Sabarimala master plan high-powered committee chairman K Jayakumar has said that projects for an environment-friendly and pollution-free Pampa and a new sewage treatment plant based on biotechnology will be among those to be cleared at the meeting on Thursday.

Jayakumar told ‘Express’ that the `99-crore Central Government fund sanctioned for Pampa would be used for a pollution-free and eco-friendly Pampa. The bathing ghat at Pampa Triveni would be remodeled with shower facility so that the river would be free of pollution, he said. Bio-urinals would be installed at various locations at Pampa, he said.

Jayakumar said a 10-million-per-litre-a-day (MLD) capacity bacteria-based sewage treatment plant would be set up at Pampa.

Jayakumar said the three-storey Annadanam Complex at Sannidhanam would be fully operational by Vishu. The work on the other floors of the building would begin soon after the pilgrimage season, he said. With the completion of the Annadanam Complex, 30,000 pilgrims could be accommodated at a time, he said. Along with the annadanam hall, a modern kitchen complex would also be completed by Vishu.

Jayakumar said new initiatives would be taken to get all requisite clearances for the capacity augmentation of Kunnar dam which would be needed to ensure the long-term water needs of Sabarimala and Pampa, he said. Two water storage tanks with combined capacity of 30 lakh litres will be set up at Pandithavalam. A prasadam manufacturing and sale complex would be set up on the new prasadam complex. As no contractor has filed application for taking up the deal, the high-powered committee would tie up with the public sector Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE) for the task, he said.
