Open Book Exams for PG Streams Likely

KOTTAYAM:  In a major move to bring vibrancy in the academic evaluation system, Mahatma Gandhi University is all set to introduce Restricted Open Book Examination System in select post-graduate programmes from 2016-17 admissions, according to Vice-Chancellor Dr Babu Sebastian.

The proposal is intended to deviate from the conventional system to assess memory, by replacing it with analytical skills. This is in tune with the national outlook on student assessment mooted by the Union Human Resource Department.

“The path-breaking intervention is intended to incorporate a paradigm shift in the student assessment process, which will progressively move from the conventional memory-oriented methodology to intellect centric,” said Dr Babu Sebastian.
