KOZHIKODE:  The government schools in the state will soon have punching system for the teachers to mark attendance and various teachers’ organisations have come out against the move.SSA will implement the project as per the directive of the MHRD. The system will be first implemented in Idukki on a trial basis as the district has the dubious distinction of having the highest number of absentees among teachers. “The teachers organisations have already raised their objection to the project as it will affect the union activities. As per the Right to Education Act, there should be 200 days of attendance for teachers of lower primary classes and 220 days of attendance for teachers the upper primary classes.,” said SSA state project director E P Mohan Das.
