Sunil Kumar MLA Files Plaint

THRISSUR: : V S Sunil Kumar MLA said on Wednesday that he has filed a complaint with the Vigilance Director, calling for a case to be registered against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed, Solar case prime accused Saritha S Nair, former staffers of Chief Minister Thomas Kuruvilla and Jikkumon Jacob under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act. The complaint comes after Saritha deposed before the Solar Commission that she had given bribes to CM and Aryadan.

“Since Saritha has admitted to a cognisable offence before a judicial commission, an FIR should be registered, foregoing the Quick Verification process. In Lalita kumari vs Government of Uttar Pradesh, the Constitutional bench of Supreme Court has held that the registration of FIR is mandatory if there is a cognisable offence,” said the MLA while speaking to mediapersons here. He said that Chandy must resign immediately if he is to save any of his credibility.

“It has stated before the judicial commission that all phone and call data related to the case has been destroyed. No documents from Saritha have seen the light of the day. While the Chief Minister is insisting that there was no loss to the Government coffers, this is an economic fraud with the involvement of top-level officials and the Chief Minister’s office. A different investigation agency should probe the case,” he said.
