KOCHI: The Jisha murder case has reached a crucial juncture, with the Special Investigation Team gathering video footage from the CCTV camera outside a shop near the victim’s residence, in which she is seen along with a man.

In the video clipping, Jisha is seen proceeding towards her house accompanied by an unidentified person, hours before she was found murdered at her residence in Perumbavoor on April 28.   The police suspect that the man in the video is the murderer, which is corroborated by the statement of Jisha’s neighbours that they spotted an unfamiliar person in the area on the day the crime was committed.

According to the police, the suspect in the video, wearing a yellow shirt, is seen walking behind Jisha, while his face is not clearly visible. The footage is from the CCTV camera installed outside a fertiliser shop around 500-600 metres from Jisha’s house.  “In the CCTV footage, the person in yellow shirt is seen walking behind Jisha. It is not known whether he was familiar to Jisha, or  he was just following her. The footage is being examined by experts,” said a police official who is part of the investigation team.

Meanwhile, the investigation team has information that Jisha had travelled to Kothamangalam on April 28, and returned in the evening. The police believe that in the video footage, Jisha is walking to her residence after alighting from bus.  Earlier, the police had picked a Perumbavoor-native from Kanjikuzhi in Idukki, whose face resembles the sketch of the suspect prepared by them.  Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that the police took one more person into custody on Thursday night. Interrogation of the person taken into custody from Kanjikuzhi is on,” said the police.  Jisha, a law student, was found murdered at her residence on April 28. The investigation into the case is currently supervised by ADGP B Sandhya.
