KOTTAYAM: IN a shocking incident, a group of men in police uniform were found selling tickets which they recovered from black ticket sellers in one of the prominent movie theatres in the heart of the city on Tuesday.
The cops were also found threatening those people who purchased ‘Puli Murugan’ tickets in bulk and grabbing the excess tickets from them at Abhilash Theatre. They sold the same tickets to the disappointed movie buffs who rushed for the first show but were left with a ‘Houseful’ board.

On assigning cops at movie theatres, a senior cop said it is a usual practice to deploy police officials at the crowded theatres especially when new movies are released to check any traffic jam and to avoid any tension in the area. However, he said no cops would be directed to sell tickets in any of the theatres.

Since the Abhilash Theatre comes under Kottayam West Police’s jurisdiction, ‘Express’ contacted West CI Nirmal Bose who said he would probe the incident and would take necessary action if found true.
