CBI raids FACT chief's residences

KOCHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation [CBI] carried out raids at the residences of the chief managing director [CMD] of Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Limited  [FACT] and other officials in different parts of Kerala and in Mumbai on Saturday as part of a probe into corruption in the sale of gypsum.

The CBI investigating agency has registered a case against FACT chief Jaiveer Srivastava over the sale of gypsum to private firms. According to CBI officials, the gypsum, a byproduct of fertilisers manufactured at FACT, was sold to private firms without completing the proper procedures.

Raids were carried out the FACT corporate office, residences of Jaiveer Srivastava at Udyogmandal, Eloor and his personal

residence in Mumbai. Similarly checks took place at the residences of four other top officials including the general manager and deputy general manager of FACT in Kochi.
