Documents seized from FACT top official

KOCHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the corruption case against top officials of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) searched the residence of a deputy general manager (DGM) and the office of her husband here on Sunday.

Earlier, the agency had registered case against nine FACT officials, including the CMD, for alleged irregularities in the sale of gypsum to a private company.

In Sunday’s raid, details of bank deposits worth more than Rs. 1 crore were recovered from FACT DGM Ambika’s residence.

The officials also raided the office of Ambika’s husband, an Assistant Commissioner with the Central Excise and Customs Department,  after he claimed the bank deposits were those of his brother who was serving as Additional Director General of Police. Documents of three land parcels owned by the DGM’s husband were also recovered from the Central Excise office. 

Meanwhile, CBI officials said they would  inspect the bank lockers of certain FACT officials on Monday. They said the accused, including CMD Jaiveer Srivastava would be interrogated after completing evidence collection.

Assets of accused to be probed The CBI will recommend fresh investigation into alleged amassment of wealth illegally by the FACT officials accused in the graft case.
