Kerala Congress unit tells Maneka Gandhi to visit state to understand stray dogs issue

Gandhi had said the provisions of Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act should be slapped on killers of stray dogs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President V M Sudheeran on Wednesday slammed Union Women and Child Minister Maneka Gandhi for saying that provisions of the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 2007, be slapped against those involved in killing stray dogs.  He also suggested that Gandhi should come to the state to understand the real scenario instead of taking a theoretical approach to the problem.

“Her view is not sensible. A situation where more importance is attached to dogs than human lives should not rise. Such comments should never have come from a leader like her. Let her come to the state and understand the real scenario instead of displaying a theoretical approach,” stated Sudheeran. Asserting that the issue of stray dogs was grave in the state, he also lambasted the state government for failing to contain the problem.

“Congress extended full support to the state government to deal with the issue. But it has not risen to the occasion and remains inept,” he criticized.
