KOCHI: The special investigation team probing the abduction and sexual assault on a female actor interrogated Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni, the first accused in the case, in the prison on Tuesday.
The interrogation was held after obtaining a permission from the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. He was grilled in the presence of the jail superintendent at Kakkanad District Prison to cross-check the statements given by Sunilraj aka Appunni, an aide of actor Dileep.
During his interrogation on Monday, Appunni reportedly told the investigation team he had a long-time acquaintance with Suni but had no information whether Dileep had any links with the accused. Appunni also admitted he had spoken to Pulsar Suni over phone on behalf of Dileep. The police are planning to summon Appunni for another round of interrogation.
The Angamaly JFCM court on Tuesday extended the remand period of Pulsar Suni and other accused persons in the case till August 16. Earlier in the day, Suni had moved a plea seeking to record his statement under section 164 of CrPC before the magistrate. While being taken to the court in the morning, Suni told mediapersons waiting outside the court there were more persons involved in the case.
