KOCHI: In an apparent move aimed at forcing the police onto the defensive, actor Dileep sought to counter the prosecution charge there had been an inordinate delay in lodging a complaint before the DGP. Dileep submitted before the High Court he had indeed emailed the complaint regarding the call from Pulsar Suni without any lag. The allegation in the remand report there was undue delay on the petitioner’s part in this regard was false. He had been complaining to the police, that too to DGP Loknath Behera, since February 27.
Dileep said he had sent the recorded transcript of the call to the DGP through WhatsApp and handed over the number of the phone from which the call had been made. He met the DGP on April 16 at the pooja ceremony of ‘Professor Dinkan’ a new film in which he was playing the title role.Dileep said ADGP B Sandhya is quite close to the female actor who was the first to claim there was a conspiracy behind the actor assault case. He submitted the interrogation was videographed.
When Dileep narrated in detail the role played by Sreekumar Menon in his life, especially with regard to the relationship with his first wife Manju Warrier and his strong suspicion about Menon’s role in spreading false and scandalous rumours about him, the video camera which had been functioning till then was found to be switched off. When Dileep realised it, he promptly informed the officer. The manner in which they reacted had created doubt in the mind of the petitioner. Menon along with the son of a prominent CPM leader had been in charge of event management during the marriage of daughter of a Malayali business tycoon.
