THRISSUR: The BJP led by its national chief Amit Shah will undertake a procession from Payyannur to Thiruvananthapuram from September 7-23 in protest against the rising incidents of political violence. Besides, the march is meant to uphold the rights of the people and ensure justice. Former BJP state president V Muraleedharan on Monday told reporters on the sidelines of the state leadership meeting here there will be a foot march and vehicle rally. Shah will be joining the foot march. BJP ministers, MPs and Chief Ministers will also participate in the process during various days, he added.

Earlier, Muraleedharan parried questions on the decision to excise names of BJP state secretary M T Ramesh and Delhi-based businessman Sathish Nair from the report submitted by the committee which investigated the medical college scam. Muraleedharan said the issue will be discussed within the party. As for the decision to convene the meeting, he said it is meant to take stock of the happenings in the last couple of months. The party will also discuss the future course of action. The CPM had unleashed an orgy of violence on BJP workers over the past few months.

Since coming to power last year, the LDF Government had not just disappointed the people, but even the party cadre. The LDF had fought the elections on the plank they will fix everything. However, the CPM cadre who took this at its face value suffered a heartburn. “But they had to face serious disappointment. At the same time people have been attracted towards the BJP, which has been in power at the Centre for three years now,” he said. Many of the people who had been leaning towards the CPM has shifted their allegiance to the BJP.

Muraleedharan said people had realised the LDF had flattered to deceive. This has shaken the CPM and they are using everything in their power to prevent this and stop the people from crossing over to the BJP. “They are creating violence so as to distance the people from flocking to the BJP. It is a planned and calculated conspiracy by the CPM to distance the people from joining the BJP. For which they are planning the CPM and BJP/ RSS violence time and again.

The violence has now gained national attention and the national media have taken up this violence. However, to counter this the CPM is utilising a new technique. They are terming the reports by national media an effort to dent the state’s image,” he said.
