THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  K M Abraham, who is currently Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), will succeed incumbent Nalini Netto as the state’s next Chief Secretary (CS).

This follows the state Cabinet decision here on Wednesday.

Netto is scheduled to retire on Thursday after five months in the top job.  A Kerala cadre officer of the IAS 1982 batch, Abraham will  be the state’s 43rd Chief Secretary and have a four-month tenure till December 31.

Abraham is known for putting Sahara chief Subroto Roy on notice during his stint as  full-time director of SEBI. Seniority-wise,  Amarendra Kumar Dubey and Aruna Sundararajan, both of whom are also from the 1982 batch, are next in line. But they are currently on Central deputation.

If Dubey and Sundararajan choose to stay on at the Centre,  Paul Antony, presently Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), could succeed Abraham. The Cabinet also decided to retain the services of  Netto as the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary.
