Devaswom recruitment will be transparent: CM

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the Devaswom Board appointments will be based solely on eligibility and transparency.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the Devaswom Board appointments will be based solely on eligibility and transparency. Launching the Devajalika software prepared for the online recruitment management of the Devaswom Recruitment Board (DRB) on Wednesday, he said unlike in the past, only eligible candidates would be appointed.The chief minister said his government’s decision to give 10 per cent reservation for upper castes in Devaswom jobs had received attention at the national level. 

While doing so, sufficient care had been taken not to disrupt the  reservation given to backward communities. In fact, they also had an enhancement in reservations, he said.Praising his government’s decision to facilitate the appointment of non-Brahmins as temple priests, he said the move had received accolades from neighbouring states.Later, he released the notification issued through the Devajalika software.

Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran presided over the function. Travancore Devaswom Board president A Padmakuamr, member K Sankaradas, Guruvayoor Devaswom Management Committee chairman N Peethambara Kurup, Cochin Devaswom Board president  M K Sudarshan, DRB member G S Shylamani, P C Ravindranathan, Devaswom Secretary K R Jyothilal and C-DAC executive director B Ramani spoke. DRB chairman M Rajagopalan Nair welcomed the gathering and secretary R Unnikrishnan proposed a vote of thanks.
